Working Together

Understanding what to expect can help ease some of the uncertainty. Here's a little about how we might work together.

What to expect from sessions

Sessions last an hour and take place weekly, which helps build continuity and momentum in our work together.

I offer sessions in-person and online at £65 per hour.

In-person sessions provide a dedicated, calm space where you can step away from the everyday. Online sessions offer flexibility and can be just as effective, particularly if travel or time constraints are a consideration.

In sessions, we will work in collaboration to find the approach that will work best for you and your needs – it’s your journey. Because my practice is integrative, I draw from multiple different modalities, including:

  • Person-centred therapy: A supportive approach that focuses on you, your experiences, and what feels most important to you.
  • Trauma-informed practice: Therapy that prioritises safety and understands how past experiences can affect the present.
  • Nervous system and emotional regulation: Support to help you understand and manage your emotions and stress responses more effectively.
  • Psychoeducation: Learning about thoughts, emotions, and behaviours to better understand what you’re experiencing.
  • Psychodynamic: Exploring how past experiences may be influencing how you feel and relate today.
  • Internal Family Systems (Parts work): Understanding and working with different parts of yourself to create balance and self-compassion.
  • Existential: Exploring questions about meaning, identity, and how you want to live your life.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Practical tools to help change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.

Before you commit, I offer a free 20 minute consultation via phone or Zoom as an opportunity for us to meet and for you to share a little about what has brought you to counselling. There is no pressure to dive into difficult topics right away—we take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You're welcome to read more about Josie's background and approach before getting in touch.

Your pace matters

There's no set timeline for counselling. Some people find a few sessions helpful; others prefer longer-term work. What matters is that we move at a pace that feels right for you. You're always in control of what we explore and when.

Confidentiality

Everything we discuss remains confidential. This creates a safe space where you can speak freely. There are very rare exceptions to this—if I believe someone's safety is at risk—but I would always aim to discuss this with you first.

Why counselling is helpful

Counselling can be helpful for anyone who feels they would benefit from a dedicated space to talk, reflect, and be heard. You don't need a specific diagnosis or to be in crisis to seek support.

You might be dealing with something specific—a difficult experience, a relationship that's troubling you, or emotions that feel hard to manage, or you might simply feel that something isn't quite right.

Whatever brings you here, you're welcome. Counselling is for anyone who feels ready to explore what's happening for them, in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.
